Bayhaqi 6590 — Placing the hand on the sick person, supplicating

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) visited a sick person, he would pass his hand over his face and chest and say: 'Adhhib al-ba's, Rabb al-nas, washfi anta al-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uka, shifa'an la yughadiru saqaman' (Remove the affliction, O Lord of mankind, and cure, for You are the Healer; there is no cure except Your cure, a cure that leaves behind no illness).
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the illness in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, I took his (peace and blessings be upon him) hand in order to pass it over his (peace and blessings be upon him) chest with these words, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) pulled his hand away from me and said: 'Allahumma adkhilni al-rafiq al-a'la' (O Allah, admit me into the Highest Companionship).
