Book of Funerals
باب: من بلغ ستين سنة فقد أعذر الله إليه في العمر، لقوله عز وجل أولم نعمركم ما يتذكر فيه من تذكر، وجاءكم النذير
Chapter: Whoever reaches sixty years, Allah has left him no excuse regarding his lifespan, because of His saying: "Did We not give you lives long enough for whoever would remember to remember? And the warner had come to you"

كَمَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ الْمَكِّيِّ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ قِيلَ: أَيْنَ أَبْنَاءُ السِّتِّينَ؟ وَهُوَ الْعُمُرُ الَّذِي قَالَ اللهُ {أَوَلَمْ نُعَمِّرْكُمْ مَا يَتَذَكَّرُ فِيهِ مَنْ تَذَكَّرَ، وَجَاءَكُمُ النَّذِيرُ} [فاطر: ٣٧] ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the Day of Resurrection comes, it will be said: Where are those who reached the age of sixty? This is the very age about which Allah, the Glorified and Exalted, said: 'Did We not give you a lifespan long enough for whoever would take heed to take heed in it? And the warner had come to you' [Surah Fatir: 37]."
