Book of Funerals
باب: من بلغ ستين سنة فقد أعذر الله إليه في العمر، لقوله عز وجل أولم نعمركم ما يتذكر فيه من تذكر، وجاءكم النذير
Chapter: Whoever reaches sixty years, Allah has left him no excuse regarding his lifespan, because of His saying: "Did We not give you lives long enough for whoever would remember to remember? And the warner had come to you"

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ مَعْنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " قَدْ أَعْذَرَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَى عَبْدٍ أَخَّرَ أَجَلَهُ حَتَّى بَلَغَ سَبْعِينَ أَوْ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً ". رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَبْدِ السَّلَامِ بْنِ مُطَهَّرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَقَالَ: سِتِّينَ سَنَةً، وَقَالَ: تَابَعَهُ أَبُو حَازِمٍ وَابْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty leaves no excuse for the person whose death He delayed until he reached sixty or seventy years of age."
