Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says that on the days of the two Eids the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would begin with a prayer of two rak'ahs. Then he would say the salam, then stand facing the people. He would speak to them and command them to give charity. If he intended to organise an army, he would give the order for it; otherwise he would leave.
