أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، أنبأ أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ زُهَيْرٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ قَالَ: نَبَّأَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا، ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا، فَمَنْ نَبَّأَكَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ جَالِسًا فَقَدْ كَذَبَ، فَقَدْ وَاللهِ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَلْفَيْ صَلَاةٍ ". رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَحْيَى.
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to deliver the Friday sermon standing, then sit, then stand and deliver the (second) sermon. Whoever tells you that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to deliver the sermon sitting is lying. By Allah, I have prayed more than two thousand prayers with him (peace and blessings be upon him).
