أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ النَّخَعِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ أَبْصَرَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " حِينَ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ، حَتَّى كَانَتَا بِحِيَالِ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَحَاذَى إِبْهَامَيْهِ أُذُنَيْهِ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ " وَرَوَاهُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، وَشُعْبَةُ، وَأَبُو عَوَانَةَ، وَزَائِدَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ، وَبِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ وَجَمَاعَةٌ، ⦗٣٩⦘ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ فَقَالُوا فِي الْحَدِيثِ: فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا أُذُنَيْهِ، وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: حِذَاءَ أُذُنَيْهِ وَرَوَاهُ شَرِيكٌ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ وَقَالَ: رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حِيَالَ أُذُنَيْهِ، وَرَوَاهُ شَرِيكٌ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، وَقَالَ: رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حِيَالَ أُذُنَيْهِ، وَكَذَلِكَ هُوَ فِي الرِّوَايَةِ الثَّابِتَةِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، عَنْ وَائِلٍ، وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ ثَابِتَةٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى يُحَاذِيَ بِهِمَا أُذُنَيْهِ، وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى ثَابِتَةٍ: حَتَّى يُحَاذِيَ بِهِمَا فُرُوعَ أُذُنَيْهِ.
Sayyiduna Abd al-Jabbar bin Wa'il narrates from his father Sayyiduna Wa'il (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): when he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for the prayer, he would raise his hands up to the level of his shoulders and bring his thumbs up to his earlobes, then say the takbir.
(b) This hadith has been narrated from Asim bin Kulayb by al-Thawri, Shu'bah, Abu Awanah, Za'idah bin Qudamah, Bishr bin al-Mufaddal and a group, and they said in this hadith that he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands up to the level of his ears.
Sharik narrated it from Asim and said that he raised his hands to the level of his ears.
(c) Likewise another narration, which is from Abd al-Jabbar bin Wa'il, from Alqamah bin Wa'il, from Wa'il, and a narration which is established from Sayyiduna Malik bin al-Huwayrith (may Allah be pleased with him), which they narrate from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), have: 'hatta yuhadhiya bihima udhunayh' (until he brought both his hands to the level of his ears); and in another narration there is: 'hatta yuhadhiya bihima furu'a udhunayh' (until he raised both hands up to his earlobes).
