(a) Amr bin Yahya narrates from his father: I was present with Umar bin Abi Hasan when he asked Abdullah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) about the ablution of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He called for a vessel of water, then performed ablution for them: he poured water from the vessel onto his hands three times, then washed his hands; after that he put his hand into the vessel, then rinsed his mouth, sniffed water into his nose and blew his nose three times, doing this with three handfuls of water. Then he put his hand into the vessel and washed his face three times; then he put his hand into the vessel and washed his arms up to the elbows twice each; then he put his hand into the vessel and wiped his head, moving his hands from front to back and from back to front; then he put his hand into the vessel and washed his feet up to the ankles.
(b) In one hadith it is that he rinsed his mouth, sniffed water into his nose and blew his nose three times with three handfuls of water.
(c) In one narration it is: Then he rinsed his mouth, sniffed water into his nose and blew his nose three times with three handfuls of water.
