Uthman bin Abd al-Rahman al-Taymi says: Ibn Abi Mulaykah was asked about ablution, and he said: I saw Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him); when he was asked about ablution, he called for water. Then a small vessel was brought, and he tipped it over his right hand, then put it into the water, then rinsed his mouth three times and blew his nose three times. At the end of the hadith it is stated that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing ablution."
(b) The Shaykh says that Abu Alqamah narrated it from Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) like the previous narration; likewise this narration is also established from Abdullah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
