(a) The freed slave of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) says that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) one day called for water for ablution and performed ablution, then washed his palms three times, then rinsed his mouth and sniffed water into his nose three times.
(b) At the end of one hadith it is: "One day I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing ablution like me." (c) In Sahih Muslim, Abu al-Tahir and Harmalah narrate it from Ibn Wahb (may Allah have mercy on him), but they did not mention the repetition in rinsing the mouth and sniffing water into the nose. (d) In the hadith, Ibn Abd al-Hakam and Bahr bin Nasr (may Allah have mercy on them both) are trustworthy narrators.
