Hani bin Hani narrates from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): We came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): I, Ja'far and Zayd. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him): "You are our brother and our friend," and he lifted his foot and hopped. And he said to Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him): "You resemble me in appearance and character," and he hopped after Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) had hopped. Then he said to me: "You are from me and I am from you," and I hopped after Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) had hopped.
Hani bin Hani is not very well known. If this is authentic, it indicates the permissibility of hajl, which is raising one foot and hopping on the other out of joy; and dancing done in the same manner is likewise permissible. And Allah knows best.
