باب: : من وعد غيره شيئا، ومن نيته أن يفي به، ثم وفى به، أو لم يف به لعذر، ومن وعد ومن نيته أن لا يفي به
Chapter: One who promises another something intending to fulfil it, then fulfils it or fails to for an excuse, and one who promises intending not to fulfil it

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي النُّعْمَانِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا وَعَدَ الرَّجُلُ أَخَاهُ وَمِنْ نِيَّتِهِ أَنْ يَفِيَ لَهُ فَلَمْ يَفِ وَلَمْ يَجِئْ لِلْمِيعَادِ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ ".
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When someone makes a promise to his brother, intending to fulfil it, but he is unable to fulfil it or cannot come at the appointed time, there is no sin upon him."
