أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الدَّقِيقِيُّ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أنبأ دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدَ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ أَحَبَّكُمْ إِلِيَّ، وَأَقْرَبَكُمْ مِنِّي: أَحَاسِنُكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا، وَإِنَّ أَبْغَضَكُمْ إِلِيَّ، وَأَبْعَدَكُمْ مِنِّي: مَسَاوِئُكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا، الثَّرْثَارُونَ الْمُتَشَدِّقُونَ الْمُتَفَيْهِقُونَ ".
Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most beloved of you to me and the closest of you to me are those who are best in character, and the most hateful of you to me and the farthest from me are those of bad character, who talk at length with their mouths stretched wide and speak with exaggeration."
