Bayhaqi 20466 — The judge should not rebuke the litigants

Abd al-Rahman bin Shimasah said: I came to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked her about something. She asked: "Who are you?" I said: "I am from the people of Egypt." She said: "I will tell you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in this house of mine: 'O Allah, whoever takes charge of any affair of my Ummah and is harsh with them, be harsh with him; and whoever takes charge of any affair of my Ummah and is gentle with them, be gentle with him.'"
