Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when there were some camels by thorny trees with their udders tied up. Some people went to milk them. He (peace and blessings be upon him) called them back and said: "If people were to go for what is in your bags and take away your food, would they have betrayed you?" They replied: Yes! He said: "These too are like Muslim households; what is in their udders is like what is in your bags." The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked about what is lawful for a man from his brother's property, and he said: "He may eat and drink, but he should not carry anything away."
This is an unknown (majhul) chain by which proof is not established, and al-Hajjaj bin Artah is not used as evidence. It has also been narrated from al-Hajjaj through another route which indicates that it concerns one in dire need.
