أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أنبأ جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْمٍ مُحْرِمِينَ فَعَرَضَ لَهُمْ حِمَارُ وَحْشٍ فَلَمْ يُؤْذِنُوهُ حَتَّى أَبْصَرَهُ هُوَ فَاخْتَلَسَ مِنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ سَوْطًا فَحَمَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَصَرَعَهُ وَأَتَاهُمْ بِهِ فَأَكَلُوهُ، فَلَقُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلُوهُ، فَقَالَ: " هَلْ أَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ؟ " فَقَالُوا: لَا. فَقَالَ: " كُلُوا ". رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ. وَأَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ مِنْ أَوْجُهٍ أُخَرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ.
Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) was with some people in the state of ihram when a wild donkey appeared before them. No one informed Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) until he saw it himself. Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) snatched a whip from someone, hunted the wild donkey and brought it to them, and they ate it. When they met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Did any of you point towards it?" They answered in the negative. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then eat."
