Ibn Ka'b bin Malik informed Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), narrating from his father, Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), that a slave girl of theirs used to graze goats on Mount Sal'. When she saw one of the goats dying, she broke a stone and slaughtered it with it. He said to his family: "Do not eat it until I have asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." So he sent someone to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to ask, and he said: "O Prophet of Allah! A slave girl of ours was grazing goats on Mount Sal', and when she saw one of the goats dying, she broke a stone and slaughtered it." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded that the goat be eaten.
