Umar bin Uthman bin Abd al-Rahman bin Sa'id al-Makhzumi narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather, that on the day of the Conquest of Makkah the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are four people for whom there is no protection, neither in the Haram nor outside it: al-Huwayrith bin Ma'bad, Maqis, Hilal bin Khatal and Abdullah bin Abi Sarh." Al-Huwayrith was killed by Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him); Maqis was killed by a close paternal cousin of his; Hilal bin Khatal was killed by Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him); while for Abdullah bin Abi Sarh, Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) sought a grant of safety, because he was his foster brother. Maqis had two singing slave-girls who used to sing satire against the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); one of them was killed, and the other escaped and became Muslim.
