Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We went with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to Khaybar, and we did not get gold or silver as spoils; rather, we obtained ordinary goods. Then we came to Wadi al-Qura, and with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was a slave who had been given (to him) by Rifa'ah bin Badr (a man of Banu Dubayb). He was taking the saddle down from the mount of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a stray arrow struck him, and because of it he died. The people congratulated him on Paradise. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Not at all! By the One in whose Hand is my soul! He stole a sheet from the spoils of Khaybar before they were distributed, and it is wrapped around him as fire." A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with one or two shoe-straps. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These one or two shoe-straps are of fire."
