Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her with a captive while some women were with her, and those women distracted her from the captive, and the captive went away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Aishah! Where is the captive?" She says: Some women were with me and they distracted me from him, and he went away. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah cut off your hand." He (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and sent someone after the captive, and he was brought back. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came in, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was sitting with her hands held out. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is the matter with you?" She said: O Messenger of Allah! You prayed against me that my hands be cut off, so I am sitting with my hands held out, waiting to see who will cut them off. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you gone mad?" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands and said: 'Allahumma man kuntu da'awtu 'alayhi faj'alhu lahu kaffaratan wa tahura' (O Allah, whomever I have prayed against, make it an expiation and a purification for him).
