Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when Dahhak bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him) wanted to appoint Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) as a governor, Umarah bin Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do you want to appoint as governor one of the killers of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)? Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) said to Umarah (may Allah be pleased with him): Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who in our eyes was trustworthy in hadith, narrated to us that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to kill your father, he said: Who will look after the children? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Fire." I am pleased for you with what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was pleased with for you.
