Bayhaqi 17850 — The ruler should not keep fighters stationed

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went out at night and heard the voice of a woman reciting poetry: The night has grown long and its sides have turned dark; what has robbed my nights of sleep is that I have no beloved. By Allah, were it not for Allah, I would have attended to him, and the sides of this bed would have moved.
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked his daughter Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her): How long at most can a woman endure without her husband? She said: Six months or four months. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will not keep any army away longer than that.
