أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ثنا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ: هَلْ كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمٌ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، أَخَّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِشَاءَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ وَقَدْ كَادَ يَذْهَبُ شَطْرُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ عِنْدَ شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ صَلُّوا وَنَامُوا وَإِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَزَالُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ مَا انْتَظَرْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ " قَالَ أَنَسٌ: كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى وَبِيضِ خَاتَمِهِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَوَصَفَ.
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) have a ring? He said: Yes. One night he (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed Isha until half of the night, or close to it, had passed; then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came and said: "The people have prayed and gone to sleep, and you have remained in prayer ever since you have been waiting for the prayer."
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: It is as if I am looking at the gleam of his (peace and blessings be upon him) silver ring; and he pointed with his left hand and described it.
