Bayhaqi 17365 — Reports explaining the wine whose prohibition

Ibn Tawus narrates from his father (Tawus) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited on the pulpit the verse which concerned wine. He says: Sayyiduna Abu Wahb al-Jayshani (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) about al-mizr. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is al-mizr?" He said: Something made from grain. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every intoxicant is unlawful." This is mursal.
