وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مَنْصُورٍ عَبْدُ الْقَاهِرِ بْنُ طَاهِرٍ، وَأَبُو نَصْرٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، وَأَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَمْدَانَ الْفَارِسِيُّ، قَالُوا: أنبأ أَبُو عَمْرٍو إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ نُجَيْدٍ، أنبأ أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ، ثنا الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، عَنْ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ خِلَاسٍ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ " كَانَ لَا يَقْطَعُ فِي الدَّغْرَةِ، وَيَقْطَعُ فِي السَّرِقَةِ الْمُسْتَخْفَى بِهَا ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he did not cut off the hand for snatching, and he did cut off the hand for theft committed in secret.
