Bayhaqi 17285 — The thief's liability for compensation

قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، ثنا أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ: " يَضْمَنُ الِسَرِقَةَ اسْتَهْلَكَهَا أَوْ لَمْ يَسْتَهْلِكْهَا، وَعَلَيْهِ الْقَطْعُ ".
It is narrated from Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) that the thief is liable for the stolen property, whether it is still with him or not, and his hand will also be cut off.
