أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْفَتْحِ هِلَالُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحَفَّارُ بِبَغْدَادَ، أنبأ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ الْقَطَّانُ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنْ بَنِي عِجْلٍ قَالَ: جِئْتُ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ⦗٣٧٨⦘ بِصِفِّينَ، فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ فِي زَرْعٍ يُنَادِي: إِنِّي قَدْ أَصَبْتُ فَاحِشَةً، فَأَقِيمُوا عَلَيَّ الْحَدَّ، فَرَفَعْتُهُ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: " هَلْ تَزَوَّجْتَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَدَخَلْتَ بِهَا؟ قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: فَجَلَدَهُ مِائَةً، وَأَغْرَمَهُ نِصْفَ الصَّدَاقِ، وَفَرَّقَ بَيْنَهُمَا.
Simak bin Harb said: A man from Banu Ijl told me: During the Battle of Siffin I was with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when suddenly a man began crying out: I have committed adultery; let the prescribed punishment be carried out on me. I took him to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Have you married? He said: Yes. He (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Have you also consummated the marriage with your wife? He said: No. So Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gave him a hundred lashes, had him pay his wife half the dowry, and separated them.
