أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُحَادَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَرْوَانَ، عَنْ هُزَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ السَّاعَةِ فِتَنًا كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ، يُصْبِحُ الرَّجُلُ فِيهَا مُؤْمِنًا وَيُمْسِي كَافِرًا، وَيُمْسِي مُؤْمِنًا وَيُصْبِحُ كَافِرًا، الْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْقَائِمِ، وَالْمَاشِي فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ السَّاعِي، فَكَسِّرُوا قِسِيَّكُمْ، وَقَطِّعُوا أَوْتَارَكُمْ، وَاضْرِبُوا سُيُوفَكُمْ بِالْحِجَارَةِ، فَإِنْ دُخِلَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيَكُنْ كَخَيْرِ ابْنَيْ آدَمَ " وَرُوِّينَا عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا الْمَعْنَى.
Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Near the Hour there will be trials like pieces of a very dark night. A man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever in the evening, and a believer in the evening and a disbeliever in the morning. In them the one sitting will be better than the one standing, and the one walking better than the one hastening. Break your bows, cut your bowstrings, and strike your swords against stones. If anyone breaks in upon one of you, let him be like the better of the two sons of Adam."
