وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ قَتَادَةَ، أنبأ أَبُو مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ كَرْدَمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: مَلَأْتُ ⦗٣١⦘ حَوْضِي أنْتَظِرُ بَهِيمَتِي تَرِدُ عَلَيَّ، فَلَمْ أَسْتَيْقِظْ إِلَّا بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ أَشْرَعَ نَاقَتَهُ، وَثَلَمَ الْحَوْضَ وَسَالَ الْمَاءُ، فَقُمْتُ فَزِعًا فَضَرَبْتُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ فَقَتَلْتُهُ، فَقَالَ: لَيْسَ هَذَا مِثْلَ الَّذِي. قَالَ: فَأَمَرَهُ بِالتَّوْبَةِ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that a man came and said: I filled my trough for my animals so that I could water them. A man's she-camel came and breached my trough, and all the water flowed away. I got up hastily and in anger killed the owner of the she-camel with a sword. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This is not intentional killing, and he ordered him to repent.
