أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الْمِهْرَجَانِيُّ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، نا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، نا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ السَّائِبَ بْنَ خَبَّابٍ تَوَفَّى وَأَنَّ ⦗٧١٨⦘ امْرَأَتَهُ جَاءَتْ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَذَكَرَتْ وَفَاةَ زَوْجِهَا وَذَكَرَتْ لَهُ حَرْثًا لَهُمْ تَفْنَاهُ وَسَأَلَتْهُ هَلْ يَصْلُحُ لَهَا أَنْ تَبِيتَ فِيهِ " فَنَهَاهَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ "، " فَكَانَتْ تَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ بِسَحَرٍ فَتُصْبِحُ فِي حَرْثِهِمْ فَتَظَلُّ فِيهِ يَوْمَهَا ثُمَّ تَدْخُلُ الْمَدِينَةَ إِذَا أَمْسَتْ تَبِيتُ فِي بَيْتِهَا " وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ.
It is narrated from Yahya bin Sa'id: It reached me that Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) died, and his wife came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). She mentioned the death of her husband, and also mentioned to him their farmland, which was at a place called Qanah, and asked him whether it was proper for her to spend the night there. He forbade her from that. So she would leave Madinah before dawn, spend the day on their farmland, being there in the morning, then when evening came she would enter Madinah and spend the night in her own house.
