أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْأَرْدَسْتَانِيُّ أنا أَبُو نَصْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْعِرَاقِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَهُ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي طَلَّقْتُ امْرَأَتِي ثَلَاثًا وَهِيَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَخْرُجَ قَالَ: " احْبِسْهَا " قَالَ: لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ قَالَ: " فَقَيِّدْهَا " فَقَالَ: لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ إِنَّ لَهَا إِخْوَةً غَلِيظَةٌ رِقَابُهُمْ، قَالَ: " اسْتَعْدِ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَمِيرَ ".
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to him and said: I have divorced my wife three times, and she wants to leave. Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Keep her back. He said: I am not able to. Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then confine her. He said: I am not able to do that either; she has brothers with thick necks. Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then appeal to the ruler against them to have her returned.
