Sayyidah Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) advised the members of his household: "Do not associate anything with Allah, even if you are tortured or burned; obey your parents, even if they order you to leave everything; do not deliberately abandon the obligatory prayer, for whoever deliberately abandons the obligatory prayer, the protection of Allah is withdrawn from him; beware of wine, for it is the root of all evils; beware of disobedience, for it is the displeasure of Allah; do not try to seize authority from those who hold it, even if you think it is rightfully yours; do not flee from battle, even if death strikes the people. If you are among them, stand firm; spend on your household from your wealth; do not lift your stick from them; and make them fear Allah, the Lord of Might." Al-Kisa'i and others said that the stick does not mean the one used for beating; rather, what is intended is teaching them discipline.
There is a break in the chain (irsal) between Makhul and Umm Ayman.
