Bayhaqi 14741 — Reports on the saying of Allah the Mighty

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: You will not be able to be just, despite your efforts: "And souls are prone to stinginess" [Surah al-Nisa: 128]. The desire for something that a person covets is called al-shuhh. Then He said: "So do not incline completely (to one) and leave the other as one suspended" [Surah al-Nisa: 129]. He says: You leave her neither unmarried nor having a husband.
