Bayhaqi 14724 — The right of the woman over the man

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ نا أَبِي، نا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ، نا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، نا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، فِي قِصَّةِ حَجِّ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَخُطْبَتِهِ بِعَرَفَةَ قَالَ: " فَاتَّقُوا اللهَ فِي النِّسَاءِ فَإِنَّكُمْ أَخَذْتُمُوهُنَّ بِأَمَانَةِ اللهِ وَاسْتَحْلَلْتُمْ فُرُوجَهُنَّ بِكَلِمَةِ اللهِ وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَنْ لَا يُوطِئْنَ فُرُشَكُمْ أَحَدًا تَكْرَهُونَهُ فَإِنْ فَعَلْنَ فَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ ضَرْبًا غَيْرَ مُبَرِّحٍ وَلَهُنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ " أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ حَاتِمِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, regarding the Hajj of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his (peace and blessings be upon him) sermon at Arafah, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fear Allah concerning women, for you have taken them as a trust from Allah, and you have made their private parts lawful through marriage. Your right over them is that they never let anyone whom you dislike onto your beds. If they do so, then strike them with a blow that leaves no visible mark. And their right over you is that you feed them and clothe them in a good manner."
