Ibn Abi Layla narrates (Sulayman says: I think it was from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)) that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) complained of the marks that had formed on her hand from grinding with the hand-mill. The narrator says: She went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to ask him for a servant, but did not find him. The narrator says: Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned this to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and when he (peace and blessings be upon him) came, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) told him. The narrator says: He (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us while we were preparing to sleep, and I got up. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Stay in your place." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) sat between us, until I felt the coolness of his (peace and blessings be upon him) feet on my chest. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you both of something better for you than a servant? When you both go to bed, say 'Subhan Allah' (Glory be to Allah) 33 times, 'Al-hamdu lillah' (All praise is for Allah) 33 times and 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest) 34 times; this is better for you than a servant." Khalid narrates from Ibn Sirin: 'Subhan Allah' 34 times.
