Bayhaqi 1346 — The leather socks over which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ، ثنا أَبِي، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ " قَالَ: فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ: يَا مُغِيرَةُ وَمَنْ أَيْنَ كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُفَّانِ؟ قَالَ: فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ: أَهْدَاهُمَا إِلَيْهِ النَّجَاشِيُّ. قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: وَالشَّعْبِيُّ إِنَّمَا رَوَى حَدِيثَ الْمَسْحِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَهَذَا شَاهِدٌ لِحَدِيثِ دَلْهَمِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and wiped over his khuffs (leather socks). A man was with Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: O Mughirah bin Shu'bah! Where did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) get khuffs from? Al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Al-Najashi gave them to him (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift. (b) The Shaykh said: Al-Sha'bi narrated the hadith of wiping from Urwah bin al-Mughirah, from his father, and this hadith is a supporting witness (shahid) for the hadith of Dalham bin Salih.
