باب: ما أمره الله تعالى به من اختيار الآخرة على الأولى، ولا يمد عينيه إلى زهرة الحياة الدنيا، فقال تعالى: ولا تمدن عينيك إلى ما متعنا به أزواجا منهم زهرة الحياة الدنيا لنفتنهم فيه ورزق ربك خير وأبقى
Chapter: What Allah the Exalted commanded him (peace and blessings be upon him) of preferring the Hereafter over this world and not extending his eyes towards the splendour of worldly life, the Exalted saying: "And do not extend your eyes towards what We have given some groups of them to enjoy, the splendour of the life of this world, that We may test them thereby; and the provision of your Lord is better and more lasting"

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ، أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَابِسِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَابِسِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: لَقَدْ كُنَّا نُخْرِجُ الْكُرَاعَ بَعْدَ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ فَنَأْكُلُهُ، فَقُلْتُ: وَلِمَ تَفْعَلُونَ ذَلِكَ؟ فَضَحِكَتْ وَقَالَتْ: مَا شَبِعَ آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ خُبْزٍ مَأْدُومٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ حَتَّى لَحِقَ بِاللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ.
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: We would take out the shank of a goat after fifteen days and eat it. The narrator says: I asked: Why did you do that? She laughed and said: The family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) never ate their fill of bread with condiment for three days until he met Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
