Book of Marriage
باب: ما أمره الله تعالى به من اختيار الآخرة على الأولى، ولا يمد عينيه إلى زهرة الحياة الدنيا، فقال تعالى: ولا تمدن عينيك إلى ما متعنا به أزواجا منهم زهرة الحياة الدنيا لنفتنهم فيه ورزق ربك خير وأبقى
Chapter: What Allah the Exalted commanded him (peace and blessings be upon him) of preferring the Hereafter over this world and not extending his eyes towards the splendour of worldly life, the Exalted saying: "And do not extend your eyes towards what We have given some groups of them to enjoy, the splendour of the life of this world, that We may test them thereby; and the provision of your Lord is better and more lasting"
Bayhaqi 13308 — What Allah the Exalted commanded him ﷺ of preferring

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ الْعَدْلُ، بِبَغْدَادَ، أنبأ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يُشِيرُ بِأُصْبُعِهِ مِرَارًا يَقُولُ: وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا شَبِعَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَهْلُهُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ تِبَاعًا مِنْ خُبْزِ حِنْطَةٍ حَتَّى فَارَقَ الدُّنْيَا " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ.
Abu Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I saw Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) pointing repeatedly with his fingers (and saying): By the One in whose Hand is my soul, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his family never ate their fill of wheat bread for three consecutive days, until he departed from this world.
