Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that he travelled with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered a valley and relieved himself, then came out, performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks. I said: O Messenger of Allah! You have forgotten; you did not take off the leather socks. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Not at all; rather, you have forgotten. This is how my Lord has commanded me."
