Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When (the battle of) Uhud was at hand, my father called me at night and said: "I think that I will be the first of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to be martyred at Uhud. By Allah, after me I leave no one dearer to me than you, apart from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I owe a debt, so pay off my debt on my behalf, and take good care of your siblings." In the morning, he was the first to be martyred. I buried him with another man in a grave, but I was not content to leave him in a grave with someone else, so after six months I took him out, and he was just as he had been on the day I placed him in the grave, except for one ear.
