Umm Alqamah, the freed slave-woman of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), said that Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her) made a bequest for a Jewish nephew of hers, and made a bequest of a thousand dinars for Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and entrusted the execution of her will to a son of Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him). When Safiyyah's nephew heard of it, he became Muslim in order to inherit from her, but he did not inherit. He sought what she had bequeathed to him and found that the son of Abdullah had squandered it. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: What hardship for him! Give him the thousand dinars that Safiyyah bequeathed to me.
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), made a bequest for a Jewish relative of hers.
