Bayhaqi 11725 — Explanation of what is prohibited

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade muhaqalah and muzabanah, and said: "Farming may be done in three ways: the owner of the land cultivates it; a man who is given land cultivates it; and a man who rents it for gold or silver."
