حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أنبأ أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الطَّنَافِسِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُمْ مَيِّتُونَ قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيُكَرَّرُ عَلَيْنَا مَا يَكُونُ بَيْنَنَا مَعَ خَوَاصِّ ⦗١٥٦⦘ الذُّنُوبِ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، لَتُكَرَّرَنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ حَتَّى يُرَدَّ إِلَى كُلِّ ذِي حَقٍّ حَقُّهُ "، قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ: وَاللهِ، إِنَّ الْأَمْرَ لَشَدِيدٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When this verse, "Indeed, you are going to die, and indeed they too are going to die" [Surah al-Zumar: 30], was revealed, al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, will what passed between us be brought back against us, along with (our) particular sins? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, it will surely be brought back against you, until every one who has a right is given back his right." Al-Zubayr said: By Allah, the matter is severe indeed.
