It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Utbah bin Abi Waqqas instructed his brother to take the son of Zam'ah's slave-girl, and Utbah also said: He is my son. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Makkah at the time of the Conquest, Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) took the son of Zam'ah's slave-girl and brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Abd bin Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) came too. Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This is my brother's son; his father gave me instructions about him. Abd bin Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! This is my brother, and he was born on my father's bed. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at the son of Zam'ah's slave-girl, and he resembled Utbah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abd! He is your brother and he stays with you, because he was born on his bed." Then he said: "O Sawdah! Observe hijab from him," because he resembled Utbah.
