Muhammad bin Yahya bin Habban (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ibn al-Sa'bah was brought before Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him); in his poems he had claimed to have committed fornication with a woman. He said: Look at him. They looked at him and found that his hair had not yet grown. He said: Had his hair grown, I would have imposed the prescribed punishment on him. Ubayd bin Umar (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A boy who had stolen was brought to Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: Look beneath his waist-wrap. They looked, and his hair had not grown, so his hand was not cut off.
