Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade "muhaqalah, mukhabarah and muzabanah, and granted a concession in the 'ariyyah sale." Mukhabarah is renting out land in return for a third or a quarter of the produce; muhaqalah is buying (grain still) in the ears in exchange for wheat; and muzabanah is selling fresh fruit (on the tree) in exchange for dried dates. I said to Sufyan: Is this explanation in the hadith of Ibn Jurayj? He said: Yes.
