It is narrated from Ibn Abi Layla (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked for water, and a village chief brought (water) in a silver vessel. He took hold of the vessel and threw it away, and said: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) "forbade us to eat and drink from vessels of gold and silver, and forbade wearing garments of thick and fine silk and sitting on them", and he said: "They are for them (the disbelievers) in this world and for you in the Hereafter."
(b) In the narration of Ibn Abi Najih (may Allah have mercy on him) it is (stated) that "eating from these (vessels) is forbidden."
