أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْهَاشِمِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الْمُسْتَعِينِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَدِينِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَرَى أَنَّ هَذَا مِنْ صَحِيحِ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ فَإِذَا هُوَ قَدْ دَلَّسَهُ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ لَا أَتَّهِمُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: فَإِذَا الْحَدِيثُ مُضْطَرِبٌ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: وَقَدْ رُوِيَ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ.
Ali bin al-Madini (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I used to think that this was among the authentic hadith of Ibn Ishaq, but it turned out that he had concealed its source (tadlis): Muhammad bin Ishaq said: Someone whom I do not suspect narrated it to me from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). Ali said: So the hadith is mudtarib (inconsistent).
