باب: من نذر هديا لم يسمه أو لزمه هدي ليس يجزي من صيد فلا يجزيه من الإبل والبقر الأنثى فصاعدا
Chapter: One who vowed a sacrificial animal without naming it, or owes a sacrifice that is not compensation for game, is only sufficed by a thani of camels or cattle or older

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يُونُسَ، ثنا زُهَيْرٌ، ثنا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا تَذْبَحُوا إِلَّا مُسِنَّةً إِلَّا أَنْ يَعْسُرَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَذْبَحُوا الْجَذَعَةَ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يُونُسَ.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sacrifice only a two-toothed animal (musinnah); if there is hardship (that is, such an animal cannot be found), then you may sacrifice a young lamb (jadha'ah) of sheep."
