Abdullah bin Rafi' (may Allah have mercy on him), the freed slave of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), said: I asked Sayyiduna Hajjaj bin Amr al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) about a Muslim being held back, and he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has a bone broken or becomes lame has come out of ihram, and Hajj is due on him the following year." Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I related this to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas and Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them both), and they both said: Hajjaj (may Allah be pleased with him) has spoken the truth.
Ali bin al-Madini said: Al-Hajjaj al-Sawwaf, narrating from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, is more reliable (athbat).
