«يا أيها الناس! إن الشمس والقمر آيتان من آيات الله وإنهما لا ينكسفان لموت أحد ولا لحياته فإذا رأيتم شيئا من ذلك فصلوا حتى تنجلي إنه ليس من شيء توعدونه إلا وقد رأيته في صلاتي هذه ولقد جيء بالنار حين رأيتموني تأخرت مخافة أن يصيبني من لفحها حتى قلت: يا رب وأنا فيهم؟ ; ورأيت فيها صاحب المحجن يجر قصبه في النار كان يسرق الحاج بمحجنه فإن فطن به قال: إنما تعلق بمحجني! وإن غفل عنه ذهب به حتى رأيت فيها صاحبة الهرة التي ربطتها فلم تطعمها ولم تتركها تأكل من خشاش الأرض حتى ماتت جوعا ; وجيء بالجنة فذلك حين رأيتموني تقدمت حتى قمت في مقامي فمددت يدي وأنا أريد أن أتنأول من ثمرها شيئا لتنظروا إليه ثم بدا لي أن لا أفعل»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O people! The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah; they are not eclipsed for the death or the life of anyone. So when you see any of that, pray until it clears. I have seen, in this very prayer of mine, everything that you have been promised. Hell was brought forward, and that was when you saw me step back for fear that its blast would reach me, until I said: O Lord, and I am among them? And in it I saw the man with the crooked staff dragging his intestines in the Fire; he used to steal from the pilgrims with his staff, and if he was caught he would say: It just got caught on my staff! And if people were unaware, he would take it away. And I even saw in it the woman of the cat, who tied it up and neither fed it nor let it go so that it could eat the insects of the earth, until it died of hunger. And Paradise was brought forward, and that was when you saw me step forward until I stood in my place, and I stretched out my hand wanting to take some of its fruit so that you could look at it; then it occurred to me not to do so."
